Wishes Outside this Era....

This era... We have everything to get done via net and PC.. There are good effects due to this 'sophistication". We no longer wait in queue to pay our bills, electric, phone, etc.. But there are many people like me who still have lot of wishes outside this era.. Away from such a mechanical life that we have currently..

Few to list are:
  • A wish to play with those ducks hopping over the farms..
  • A wish to play with the kids running over the farms..
  • A wish to eat hot murukkus during the cold - rains sitting near the veranda of house..
  • A wish to go and do those poojas every pradosham, krithigai, margazhi month, etc..
  • A wish to wait for those "hand written letters " from grand parents and sitthi.
  • A wish to hide on those sun shades and backyard of house, when mom scolds for not drinking the milk..
  • Waiting late night without sleep for father to return and enjoy those hugs and "relish choclates" he brings every night...
  • A wish to make rangolis every day mng during margazhi month along with the neighbours.
  • A wish to get up early, water the plants and pluck those jasmine flowers growing at home to make our own malaas..
  • A wish to enjoy those filter coffees made by mom
  • A wish to enjy those feasts (vada , payasam) on banana leaves during every auspicious occasions...
  • A wish to continue those fights with my brother for cheating me while playing chess, carrom, etc...
  • etc, etc......................
Most of them are childhood memries, but not just "child hood" and that was a different era altogether...

The smell of aharbathi at home used to lift the moods.. Now, by the time we reach the home after the traffic , we can only get the smell of polluting gases... Forget about India, with the demanding money and work , lot of indians are getting settled abroad and in fact they are so proud to hold the green card... I too have left my home almost 5 years now, for the sake of study and work. Sometimes I repent for this. Thou I know life would be much more difficult without the current educational and money we earn. Though it is still just a overnight journey, but I see lot of differences between this cosmopolitan bangalore and chennai. Even in chennai, the place i belong is somehwat traditional, you have lot of other places in chennai where the life is equivalently mechanic and more modern...In my current place, almost in every house, u can see people who dont know their neighbours..

As usual, I think a lot about where I do miss to undertsand what I want. How Can I make myself to feel the same spirits (which I used to have in my childhood days in those conservative traditioanl places) inspite of living in a big city? NB: I am usually like this ...

I found only one answer: A very generic answer: " in life we get something at the loss of something else"...

Thats very true here. It is upto me to decide now how long I want to inspire myself in the current researcher job Vs how long I want to enjoy the essence of life at such a nice beautiful conservative place... Or I should focus now on creating such an environment ... I meant I can do all those things even in this so called modern banglore.. It requires some efforts .. That's it... At least till I am in this job..

An another Q that use to come: Am i not changing myself with the current change in environment ? The answer is probably right.. But I dont see anything wrong or I dont feel that I am losing something.. As long as I know what kind of things and environment I like, it is left upto me to live the way I want... I mean I am happy to be like this - Unmodernised... Hope I will change my environment and way of life.. Or go back at some time of my life permanently to such a place which I miss now...

Hi aarthi,

nice post!!
One thing you said about this metro.. life is, we have a choice. We can chose if we want. We can go back & live the old life or live this so called metro life or we can try changing our life style to preserve the beauty of both ends if we want..

very correct!!

hopefully we will not be asked to convince the whole world about our own choice :)

Hey aarthi..
Most of them what I thought.. I like the old times then these present days.. In my trip to Delhi.. through those windows of that train I have observed the nature and people in villages. I like that more than what i am in.

I have thought of posting something similar to this..

I will take some time to write more in my blog !

Hi krishna and arun,
With the current trend, there may be a time in future, where we may need to convince Indians itself about our choice.. but as long as lot of people realizes this, this worse thing may not happen.. no clue...
